Sunday 19th afternoon, the last undefeated NFL team, the Indianapolis Colts got their 1st loss. They owe it to the Dallas Cowboys. The Indianapolis Colts have been dodging bullets for the last 3-weeks. If there is one team out there that is happy it is the Miami Dolphins team from 1972-1973. They can stop thinking this year about a team going undefeated this season. Miami Dolphins team from 72-73 can still claim they are the only team to accomplish this feat and they can toast the Dallas Cowboys for it.
Why is it so hard for a team to go undefeated now? Is it because of a balanced league and this is what makes the games exciting. It is because not a single team looks to accomplish a prefect season when coming into training camp? Every year we have at least one college football team that wants to go undefeated, I know this is essential to winning a National Championship. We need some NFL football teams to look at this as a goal, like individual players look for certain stats to accomplish before the year starts. Pro football is a team sport and we need for the teams to want to win every week just like the college games. Only then can we can begin to bring the excitement back to the NFL.
