Bills camp is off to a quiet startThe Buffalo Bills opened training camp on Thursday. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case you weren't aware of it. Based on the sparse crowd at St. John Fisher College, a lot of folks didn't get the memo. OK, it was only the first practice in the middle of a weekday afternoon. I'm sure attendance will pick up, beginning at tonight's workout. Buffalo Bills - St. John Fisher College - Training camp - NFL - Sports
Trent is center of attention;Fitzpatrick, Brohm still in mixTrent Edwards was not taking anything for granted as he walked off the practice field after the Buffalo Bills' first training camp workout of 2010. Edwards was back in the position he held each of the past two training camps: No. 1 on the Bills' quarterback depth chart. But the one constant in Edwards' career thus far has been change. After all, he has had four offensive coordinators and seven starting left tackles in his Bills tenure, which began in 2007. The 26-year-old Edwards knows he's going to have to play well over the next 44 days to hold that No. 1 job when the Bills open their season at Ralph Wilson Stadium against the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 12. That leaves only first-round pick C.J. Spiller as unsigned among Bills draftees. Troup, the 41st overall pick in April's draft, is a 315-pounder from Central Florida who figures to see significant action this season as the No. 2 nose tackle behind starter Kyle Williams. Schobel & roster movesThe Bills today placed defensive end Aaron Schobel on the NFL's Reserve/Did Not Report list. Bills players had until 7 a.m. to report to camp. Schobel said this week he wasn't coming and would need about 10 days to make a decision on whether he's going to play. He's now leaning toward playing. Meanwhile, Jon Corto and Nic Harris both were placed on the Physically Unable to Perform List. Corto will be out much of August with a broken left wrist. Harris sat out all of spring practices because he was recovering from offseason knee surgery. Aaron Schobel - NFL - Buffalo Bills - National Football League - Jon Corto
Poz, Corto to start on shelfBills starting inside linebacker Paul Posluszny said today he will not be practicing fully when the team opens training camp Thursday afternoon. Posluszny underwent a minor surgery on his groin two weeks ago, he said, and is expected to take a couple of weeks before returning to full action. Bills gather with Troup on board;Bell set to practice; Posluszny, Corto outThe Buffalo Bills reached a contract agreement with their second-round draft choice Wednesday, and their players converged on St. John Fisher College for today's opening of training camp. Torell Troup, the 315-pound nose tackle from Central Florida, agreed to terms on a four-year deal and was expected to be on the field for the first practice, Bills General Manager Buddy Nix said.
